Janice Tildsley established the agency in 2003, following a successful career as an agent at several other companies, including Billy Marsh Associates and Qdos Entertainment.
Kathryn Kirton joined Janice Tildsley Associates as an agent in 2004, having previously worked at Sadie Feast Management and alongside Janice at both Billy Marsh Associates and Qdos Entertainment.
After seven years of overseeing her happy and successful agency, Janice died very suddenly at the end of 2010. Whilst her warmth, great personality and wonderful sense of humour will always be missed, with the support of the clients and encouragement from many casting directors, Kathryn took over as agent / director of Janice Tildsley Associates in 2011.
In 2017, Alex France returned to the agency, after assisting Kathryn in 2012, and the agency was relaunched as Tildsley France Associates.
The values and aims of our business are the same today as when the company was first formed: to manage to the best standard possible, a diverse list of excellent actors and creatives, resulting in a quality agency.
Our approach as an agency has always been personal, practical, pro-active and hands-on; we work with integrity, professionalism and a love of what we do and this approach is reflected in relationships with casting directors and other industry professionals.
We have relationships with, and work with a number of agents and managers in both New York and LA to ensure that clients have access to opportunities on both sides of the pond.
We are affiliated with a voiceover agency: Damn Good Voices.
Tildsley France Associates is a member of the Personal Managers’ Association.
Agent and Director
Alex trained in musical theatre at The Dance School of Scotland in Glasgow and then at Guildford School of Acting, and worked professionally as an actor in London’s West End, UK tours and Internationally for several years. In 2012, he decided to cross to the other side, first interning, and then assisting at Janice Tildsley Associates. In 2014, he moved to Keddie Scott Associates as Agent, and then Senior Agent in their London office, before returning to Janice Tildsley Associates, now Tildsley France Associates in 2017.
When not at his desk, or at the theatre, Alex can usually be found walking his dog Louis, or training for his first marathon.
Alex is assisted by Allison Smith.
Kathryn’s career as an agent began in 2000, as a receptionist and assistant at Billy Marsh Associates, where she first worked with Janice Tildsley. She continued to work as an assistant agent at the talent division of Qdos Entertainment and covered maternity leave at Sadie Feast Management, before joining Janice Tildsley Associates in 2004 and eventually re-launching the agency in 2017 as Tildsley France Associates, alongside Alex. Kathryn has a BA (Hons) in Theatre Studies from the University of Wolverhampton and more recently she gained a CertHE in Arts Management from Birkbeck, University of London. She has undertaken work experience and internships at a variety of arts organisations, including The Union Theatre in Southwark and has temped with several West End casting directors. She has a long-standing love of stand-up comedy and her ‘Comedy at The Castle’ night won the Magners Pub Comedy Award in 2008.
After 20 years in London, Kathryn now lives in Suffolk, but makes regular trips to London and around the UK to keep up-to-date with clients’ work.
Her all-time favourite musical is The Rocky Horror Show.

Founder of Janice Tildsley Associates
Janice was a generous, warm and hugely funny woman who was a great friend to many people. After working for Bertice Reading in the 1980’s, she worked as an agent for many happy years, at agencies including Adrian King Associates and Billy Marsh Associates, before establishing Janice Tildsley Associates in 2003. She always said it was the best thing she ever did. She loved musical theatre (apart from Cats), but she was always adamant that every musical – with the exception of Les Misérables, which she adored – was 20 minutes too long. Nobody could answer a phone like she did: “Janice Tildsley – tall, leggy, blonde, you know the one.”
Janice passed away peacefully on 19th December 2010. Sailor’s friend and Agent to the Stars, she is often in our thoughts and is greatly missed.
“Here’s to those who wish us well, and those who don’t can go to hell”.
